At the Grand Opening of the new building of Oasis Academy Coulsdon Lord Adonis unveiled a plaque and officially declared the new building 'open'.
In his whole school address, he told students that amazing things had happened in the 5 years since his last visit to the predecessor school. Lord Adonis said the building was inspirational but it is what happens inside matters the most. He praised the 'great leadership' of David Millar and led students in a round of applause for their Principal.
He told students that there was nothing holding them back from making great achievements, they had everything they needed to succeed: people had invested money in the building, staff were investing their time and skills and they had great facilities in which to learn.
Lord Adonis urged students to try hard in their subjects but reminded them that they should also put something back into their Academy and local community. He said the Academy had all the makings to be a 'fantastic school' for students and the community.
