Oasis Academy Coulsdon proudly present their first ever musical production in their new building: Bugsy Malone! Students, staff and parents have been painting and decorating the set to transform their performance Agora into Fat Sam's Speakeasy!
Over 30 students are involved in the production and are busy rehearsing their lines, music and songs for their performances next week. All the dance moves have been choreographed by Year 11 Dance Leaders and the cast is looking forward to putting on a special scintillating show for local residents and primary schools on Tuesday morning, 31st January, followed by two evening performances to parents and students
Ally Lindsay, Teacher of Drama said: "The production involves some of our best aspiring actors and singers and will be a fun filled interpretation of the original Bugsy Malone. The students have worked very hard, putting in late nights and learning lines, dance moves and songs to accommodate the script. They are extremely excited and have been looking forward to the performance since September. "
A special group of musicians will be performing live throughout the show and are a mix of students, parents and professionals who support the Academy. Instrumental teachers have come together to help form the band for the production. It includes professional drum, piano, guitar and clarinet players who have all taken a break from their busy teaching and performing schedules. It also includes teachers who have musical talents who have dusted off their instruments. We are also lucky to have talented students such as Alfie Day who will play in his first production, in his first year at the Academy and he will gain a wealth of experience from playing with other professionals.
Lead cast members include:
Georgia Grinham - Tallulah
Cameron Taylor - Bugsy
Jessica Walker - Blousey
Tom Dixon - Fat Sam
Jacob Jeal - Dandy Dan
Michael Poupart - Knuckles
Jessica Hann - Captain Smolsky
Stella Finlay - O'Dreary
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
