Community

At Oasis we recognise that people are not two-dimensional beings; we are each a whole person with a broad range of aspirations and needs and these needs are interconnected.  To truly help someone with their educational needs, it is vital to also be aware of their emotional needs, spiritual needs and economic needs.

As such, we believe in communities that are holistic, interconnected and totally inclusive.  We call our model for these communities ‘hub.’  Watch the video above to learn more about our vision for hub.

Oasis Academy Coulsdon is part of Oasis Hub Coulsdon.  The Hub is made up of Oasis Academy Coulsdon (OAC), Oasis Academy Byron (OAB), Byron Children's Centre, and the brand new Oasis Church Coulsdon. By ensuring that these sections are joined up and rooted in same ethos we want to see the entire community transformed for the better.

The Hub currently runs the following activities in the community:

The Respect Club
An after school club for OAC students on Tuesdays from 3.00-4.30pm in the Green Hall at OAC.

Chill and Chat
An after school club for OAB students and parents on Wednesdays from 3.30-4.30pm in the Byron Children's Centre.

Church
An informal church gathering with food and a Christian reflection, Wednesdays from 4.30-5pm in the Byron Children's Centre.

Staff Football
A football session for members of staff from across the Hub, at OAC on Fridays from 4.15-5.15pm.

The Hub also currently has links with the following local services:

The Purley Foodhub: helping people in times of crisis by supplying food.

Coulsdon Churches Together: the collection of churches in Coulsdon, working together for the benefit of the community.

The Rotary Club of Coulsdon Manor: our local group run events such as the Coulsdon Village Fair, bringing the community together.

Friends of Oasis: our brilliant parent group who run community events throughout the year for parents and children.
