Courses

The majority of our students will follow a course comprising four AS subjects. These subjects are chosen from the wide range on offer listed below. Some of the subjects will be familiar from GCSE and some, Psychology example, will be new. Additionally, all AS level students will follow a ‘skills for life’ programme the aim of which is to develop core abilities and recognise generic attributes, such as presentational skills. Students are also able to study courses in Dance or Sport Leadership. At the end of Year 12, students take their AS exams and then continue into Year 13 where most students will follow three A2 subjects.

We also offer a range of BTEC courses, Some students will have the opportunity to retake Mathematics and English GCSE.
Click on the links below for subject specific course information. Please note courses offered are dependent on viable student numbers
We have established links with Coulsdon College, just 10 minutes walk from the Academy and details of some of the specialist courses available to our students will be available shortly

Entry Requirements

Students who wish to study AS/A2 Courses should achieve a minimum of 5 A*-C grade passes including Maths & English. Students should also have at least a B grade in the subjects they wish to study in the Sixth Form.

The minimum requirement for BTEC courses varies and should be discussed with the relevant subject leader.

Assessment & Reporting

"rigorous assessment and monitoring systems are in place" (Ofsted, March 2011)

Every student has his or her own individual learning plan which includes targets for effort, achievement, attendance and punctuality. The plan is reviewed regularly, in discussion with the student and our robust monitoring and tracking systems ensure that students know exactly the level they are working at and what they need to do in order to improve. Reports are sent home to parents regularly and there are three opportunities during an academic year to meet with Mentors and subject tutors to review progress

Curriculum Support

"care, guidance and support students receive are good" (Ofsted, March 2011)

Oasis Academy Coulsdon is committed to provide fully inclusive education and our team of subject specialists are supported by well qualified and experienced staff who ensure that those who need additional support or who may not have English as a first language have the support they need. Our flexible timetable can incorporate individual learning plans to those who may need it.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
