Enrichment

We want our students to enjoy their time in the Sixth Form and provide a wide range of enrichment opportunities, which will not only add fun to Sixth Form life but also enhance those all important cvs and University applications.

“I want to remain at Oasis Academy Coulsdon because of the strong sense of community and ‘family feel’ here.”  Jayde

Arcs of Achievement

As part of our commitment to develop the whole person, all Oasis Academy Coulsdon students are expected to complete four ‘Arcs of Achievement’: Academic, Service, Enrichment and Professional.  Students are encouraged to excel at their academic studies; play a full part and serve the Academy community – “be a host, not a guest”; take part in the many enrichment opportunities provided, and develop their professional skills by taking advantage of leadership, enterprise and work experience opportunities.

Sport

Our amazing new facilities include sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio, gym as well as outdoor pitches.  Sixth Form students will be allocated specific time for sole use of these facilities one afternoon each week.
Students are encouraged to continue their participation and achievement in sporting activities. Competitive matches against other schools and colleges are also organised so students are able to represent the Academy in netball, basketball and football.

Music & Productions

Students will have the opportunity to take part either as a performer, dance leader, voice coach or a ‘backstage’ hand, in a variety of Academy-wide performing arts events: dance, annual production, choir performances.  Sixth Form students will also have the opportunity to put on their own ‘revue’ and talent shows.  Many of our students are talented performers and the Sixth Form will be responsible for organising and producing the annual Oasis Academy Coulsdon Talent Show, ‘Oasis’ Got Talent’ the proceeds of which will be donated to a Sixth Form charity of choice.

Young Enterprise

All Sixth Form students will be invited to take part in The Young Enterprise Scheme. This will give them the chance to work with other sixth formers in Croydon where they will learn to set up and run a real business.
The Academy will continue to run its social enterprise projects on behalf of ‘StoptheTraffik’ and its global links in Bangalore and Zimbabwe and we hope that Sixth Form students will take the leadership for these ventures.
There will be several opportunities for taking part in enterprise competitions. Members of the sixth form will be able to compete as well as training younger students to take part.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The aim of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is to help young people to plan and undertake their own programmes of activity, to develop mentally, physically and emotionally.

At Oasis Academy Coulsdon, we offer Sixth Form students the opportunity to achieve the Silver Award. Students must complete four areas of participation; expedition, skill, physical recreation and service.

The expedition involves planning, preparing for and undertaking a three-day venture in a group of between four and seven people. Expedition training runs regularly throughout the year covering important things such as map reading, camp craft and first aid.

Service to the community is an important part of the award package as pupils spend free time on service projects either around the Academy or in their own communities.

Through the award, we work to bring the best out of young people so that they become more motivated, disciplined and balanced; qualities that employers, colleges and universities truly value.

Independent Living

Being in the Sixth Form is not just about academic study.  Students will also learn basic skills for life, preparing them for independent living.
All students will receive training in personal financial management including how to set up a bank account, saving schemes, tax and national insurance, pensions.
Our Sixth Form cookery course will ensure that students either learn new skills, or enhance the skills learned through GCSE studies, to enable them to prepare and cook healthy, nutritional and appetising meals on a budget.
The Sixth Form is a time when many students want to learn to drive and we have links with a local driving school who offer introductory lessons at a discounted rate for students from Oasis Academy Coulsdon.  Please note driving lessons may only be taken outside of the Academy day.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
