Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Family & Unity

Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do at not just Oasis Academy Coulsdon, but the Oasis organisation globally. We have all shared in the shock, sadness and anger caused by the tragic killing of black man George Floyd in Minneapolis, America, by a white Police Officer. It has forced us to confront the deep rooted systemic racism which permeates through our society and culture. Far too often African, Caribbean and Asian people face discrimination in education, in employment and in the application of the law; and at Oasis Academy Coulsdon we believe it is time for change, and we will not be silent.

Opening up a dialogue that confronts discrimination, educates, and empowers must be the way forward, and it must be sustained if we are to truly change our society. We have started this change by confronting discrimination in our video below, by educating ourselves in PSHE work set (click here) and in the collating of invaluable reading and watching lists (available below); and empowering by publicly stating that we will no longer be silent in the face of racism or any discrimination, we will not be complicit in our silence.

We will work hard to ensure that all people are valued, accepted on the basis of equality and treated with dignity.
