Oasis Academy Coulsdon uses MCAS as the method of payment for a wide range of services at the Academy including lunches, trips and events.

MCAS offers you the freedom to make online payments whenever and wherever you like, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - safe in the knowledge that the technology used is of the highest internet security available. We hope that everyone will benefit considerably from this facility.

None at all.  All places at the Academy will be free and available to the local community within an admission arrangement which is very similar to the admission arrangements for other local community schools.  Students will be accepted irrespective of ability or faith.

Staff and students of all faiths are welcome to be part of each Oasis Academy and faith is not a factor in the admissions criteria for the school.  The academies are 'schools of religious character' in order to enable Oasis' ethos of inclusion, which is grounded on the Christian faith, to be prominent in the school's character.

Academies are publicly funded independent schools.  The majority of the funding comes direct from central government.  The  Education Funding Agency  (formerly the YPLA)  will fund the annual running costs of the academies via a grant each academic year.

Being part of a multi academy trust (MAT) does not mean a school necessarily has more money than a state school. This will depend on the MAT sponsor and what additional funding they contribute. Oasis academies are sponsored by Oasis Community Learning, an exempt charity. The MAT will support their academies with the management of their funding and ensure they are held to account for their spending. The sponsor has responsibility for the day to day running of the Academy.

Academies are state-funded independent schools and in many cases, join an academy network or family.  

If your child is too unwell to come into school you must notify the academy office as soon as you can. 

You must contact the Academy each day that your child is unwell. 

If you child becomes sick during the school day, they will be instructed to visit student reception who will assess the extent of the illness and call appropriate parents/carers. 

We have a fantastic culture of inclusivity at the Academy, and so bullying is not a common occurrence. However, should your child have any friendship issues or concerns about other students, we have a committed team of staff who are here to help who they can speak to. As well as your child's pastoral Mentor who they see daily for half an hour each morning, we have a dedicated team of Inclusion and Behaviour Assistants who work with students to resolve issues and ensure that our behaviour policy is implemented.

If you need to contact the Academy about any non-academic concerns, your first point of contact will be your child's Mentor, or failing that their Family Leader.

We have strong links with local colleges and ensure our students are fully aware of all options open to them post-GCSE. We arrange talks and taster days for students with many of these colleges, and have also arranged trips to local universities to help with career planning from an early stage.

The most common destinations for our students are Reigate College, Coulsdon College, and East Surrey College. Here students can study a wide range of A level subjects as well as diplomas and vocational courses, which often carry as many UCAS points as A-Levels and so will not impact a students chances of securing university places.

There is an option for students to wear the Academy tracksuit trousers for outside PE in cold weather conditions. On days where students have PE they will wear their PE kit into the Academy in place of their normal uniform, they will be permitted to wear their tracksuit bottoms over their shorts on these days. If students have reason to wear tracksuit trousers for indoor PE this can be discussed with the PE department. Tracksuit trousers with the Academy logo on are available from the Academy uniform supplier in a wide range of sizes.

Walking

Wherever possible we will encourage students to walk to and from school. Not only is this a great way to stay fit and healthy, it also has a positive impact on the environment by reducing the vehicle emissions.

Car

Should you need to drive your child to and from school we ask that you do not enter the Academy site, but instead drop them at the gate/at neighbouring roads to the Academy, remembering to be considerate of our neighbours and not block their driveways or sit with engines running whilst waiting.

Bus

At the end of the school day one 60 bus and one 466 bus come onto the Academy site to collect students who wish to take the bus home. Once out onto the main Coulsdon Road the busses follow their normal routes heading towards Croydon. Students who need to travel by bus in the Caterham direction can walk to the bus stop on the Coulsdon Road at the end of Lacey Drive.

Netherne Coaches

Students who live in Netherne may be eligible to travel by council provided transport. This currently takes the form of coaches from two drop off/collection points. This transport is independent of the Academy and must be applied for via Surrey Council.
