Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Enrichment

Here at Oasis Academy Coulsdon, we are committed to ensuring that the highest quality academic curriculum is offered, underpinned by a comprehensive enrichment programme.

"The school provides many opportunities for pupils to develop their talents and interests"

(Ofsted, March 2024)

Trips

Students' learning and understanding is enhanced by trips and visits.  Some visits are arranged as part of the national curriculum programme of studies for example: museums, theatres, community centres, Geography field trips.  Other trips are provided as an extra-curricular opportunity.  The Academy organises an annual Football Tour to Spain, day trip to Boulogne, and many more.

In Year 7 all students enjoy a team-building residential trip to an activity and adventure centre, providing a great opportunity to develop friendships.

GCSE language students have the opportunity to visit Spain on a residential trip to practice their linguistic skills.

Drama

Key Stage 3 and 4 Drama Clubs are very popular and annual productions are performed to parents.  Students have the opportunity to visit West End Productions as part of the curriculum as well as extra-curricular opportunities.  Trips to see  'Women in Black', 'Blood Brothers', 'Wicked', and 'One Man Two Guv'nors' are just some of the award winning productions seen.

The Drama, Music, and Art Departments work collaboratively to put on an annual production for parents, primary students and the local community.  'Bugsy', 'School's Will Rock You', 'Oliver', 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Aladdin', 'Mary Poppins', and 'Beauty and the Beast' have been a few of our recent sell-out productions. The summer term spectacular 'Oasis' Got Talent' is another opportunity for our students to showcase their talents, as well as in the 'Arts Showcase'.

Music

We are extremely fortunate to have group and individual music lessons available to students in a variety of instruments and voice. In addition we also have an Academy choir who perform at events throughout the year including the Carol Service, Coulsdon Cluster Choir Performance and visits to local residential homes. Music is heavily involved in our annual productions and our rehearsal studios are available for students to rehearse and practice in at lunch and after school.

We have also been fortunate to have some amazing trips in the past year, including to see the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Science & Environment Club

A weekly science and environment club enables students to study issues affecting their local area and look at ways they can help reduce climate change by recycling and reducing waste.

Craft Club

This has become increasingly popular with students, and we just love seeing what they produce each week. From scented soaps to decoupage boxes, the finished products always show the pride and enjoyment students take from participating in these activities.

Rotary Club of Coulsdon Manor

The Academy is indebted to the Rotary Club who provide many extended opportunities and competitions for students:  Young Writer, Young Photographer, Young Chef, Youth Speaks, Rotary Youth Leadership Award are just some of the many fantastic competitions and experiences students are given.

Once a year, the Academy prepares and serves a silver-service dinner to the Rotary Club to show our appreciation and thanks for all opportunities they provide.
