Homework

At Oasis Academy Coulsdon we are enthusiastic about the importance of home learning. To be able to fully understand and retain new information and knowledge, our young people will need to practice and further their skills at home. 

After the success of Microsoft Teams during home learning, we have made the decision to no longer use Show My Homework and will instead ask students to access their homework via Microsoft Teams. MS Forms will also be used in conjunction with Microsoft Teams.

At KS3 Core subjects (English, Maths and Science) will set one piece of homework a week. All other departments will set one piece of homework a fortnight. Each piece of homework should take roughly 60 minutes to complete. Where possible at KS3 Core subjects will give one week for homework to be completed once set and two weeks for all other subjects.

At KS4 EBACC Subjects (English, Maths, Science, Language, and Geography/History) will set one piece of homework a week. The homework should take roughly an hour to complete. All other departments will set homework once a fortnight. Where possible, at KS4, all subjects will give one week for homework to be completed once set.

With the implementation of Period 7 for Year 11 students this academic year, the homework set for the year group will not always reflect the above guidance due to this extra study time for students.
