Students and staff have taken part in a selection of events and activities to celebrate Black History Month 2025.
Students have been enjoying lunchtime BHM Film Club and Karaoke. Our caterers, Sodexo prepared a Jamaican meal including Jerk Chicken Rice & Peas, Jerk Vegetable Curry with Sweetcorn, Homemade Coleslaw and Jamaican Ginger Cake.
Some of our students supported Ms Ogundele to lead a Black History Month assembly, organise our Show Racism the Red Card Day and to design a Staff Appreciation Display. Years 7 - 10 were invited to take part in a Tina Turner workshop and Years 8 & 9 had an exciting assembly with an ex-professional footballer, Paul Mortimer.
Some of our staff made videos, for students to watch during Mentor Time, about black people who inspire them, including Dr Jewell Plummer Cobb, Leila Hassan Howe, Chris Ofili, Ms Adetola, Alek Wek, Floella Benjamin, Rusty Lee, Channique Sterling-Brown, Cynthia Horner and Gabrielle.
