On Thursday 21st July 2022, the academy celebrated our first ever culture day. This is an event we hope to make an annual day in our calendar and judging the response from students to the day we think that it will become one of the most popular dates in our year.
The day comprised of early morning and mid-morning workshops followed by an afternoon carousel of displays and guest speakers. Students got to experience activities they would not normally participate in during the normal academic year. Activities from Aussie Rules Football and other sports from around the world, Italian bread making, dance, face-painting, and military bootcamp featured in the day’s timetable. The atmosphere within the building was fantastic as students from Years 7-9 got stuck in and enjoyed this fun and diverse end to the term.
The final afternoon session displayed everything that had happened earlier in the day. We were delighted to see our students stand up in front of their peers and proudly share with them their own cultural heritage, celebrating the beautiful diversity that makes up our community.
The day was captured by our fantastic team of students on the Coulsdon Chronicle who pulled together brilliant articles covering the day and edited their paper all in just six hours! To read the special edition of the paper, click on the below link.
