We have been fortunate enough to work with the charity First Give this half term, and as part of their schools programme our Year 10 students hosted a charity week to raise awareness and funds of their chosen causes.
The programme is designed to help students develop key career skills which will help them not only in the world of work, but also as they move on to further education and more independent study. Working in groups students identified the cause they wanted to support, they then came up with an activity to support their awareness and fundraising efforts, planned, project managed, and marketed for the event.
We had a range of exciting events including Kahoots quizzes, penalty shootouts, cake making competition and sales, Autism and disability Awareness activities, wheelchair races, easter egg hunts, and much more.
The events raised the profile and funds for their six chosen local charities:
National Autism Society
Off the Record
Lives not Knives
South London Rape and Sexual Assault Support Centre
At the end of this term, each class team will be delivering presentations to a panel of judges from First Give to win £1,000 for their charity.
