We returned to this exam hall this academic year, and after two years away the students at Oasis Academy Coulsdon were keen to show what they were capable of. Five years of lessons, two months of Saturday school sessions, 30 weeks of daily after school revision classes, and hundreds of hours of independent study saw all came to fruition on Thursday 25th August 2022 as the class of 2022 received their GCSE results.

We were thrilled to see that 68% of students achieved grades 4-9 in English and Maths, with 18% of students achieving top marks of a 7, 8 or 9 in English and Maths. This see’s the students at the academy in South Croydon continue to attain brilliant results and make fantastic progress for yet another year.

Our top achieving students for this academic year were Amelia Kaszewska, Jasmine Assab, and Callum Porter. Amelia achieved six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and two Grade 7s and is thrilled to have secured her place at Reigate College to study A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Psychology.  Jasmine also achieved an impressive six Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and a Grade 7 and will now be studying A level Geography, Economics, and Sociology at Reigate College.  Callum achieved four Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and three Grade 7s. He plans on going to Reigate as well to study A level Maths, Music, and Art.

Jasmine said when receiving her results “I am so pleased and in shock. I wasn’t sure what to expect to be honest as the lead up to our exams was a bit different to what previous years would have had, but this is fantastic, I couldn’t be happier”. This sentiment was echoed by many students on the day, including James Parsons who received a Grade 8, three Grade 7s, two Grade 6s, and two Grade 5s, which were significantly higher than expected based on KS2 data when he joined the academy. James commented “I am thrilled, I didn’t expect this and I am so grateful to my teachers for working with me to help me achieve this; they have been a great support, along with my parents and friends, over the past few years and I just want to say a huge thank you to them all”.  James plans to study Applied Science at East Surrey College

Catrin Green, Principal, was there bright and early on results day to welcome students through the doors and share in their joy as they opened their long-awaited results; she commented “This is a big year for us and our students. They were back in the exam hall and able to properly put their knowledge to the test and show off what they are capable of. This is a fantastic set of results which we are truly proud of as it is testament to the resilience and determination of our students.”
