GCSE Results Day 2023

The wait is over- GCSE results day 2023 finally arrived on Thursday 24th August, and students at Oasis Academy Coulsdon were greeted with envelopes that contained the best ever GCSE results in English and Maths the Academy has achieved. As national results saw a dip in the 2023 exams, students at OAC have secured amazing grades, with almost 70% attaining a 4 or above in English and Maths and 49% securing 5 or above.

Delighted with their results, Taleen Shtaya and Leah Williams managed to collectively secure sixteen grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 7 and are both looking forward to moving on to Wallington Girls and Reigate College respectively to study A Levels across the Science’s, Maths and Art. Taleen and Leah sit in the top 5% of students for their results this year, and Leah said of her GCSE grades “I am so pleased, I can’t quite believe they are real! I am so grateful to everyone who supported me through my GCSE years and got me to where I am; my teachers have been fantastic and I am really grateful to them.”

Equally pleased was Sacha Dil Devincenzi who was determined to make it onto the Academy Honours Board for Top Achievers in GCSE results to follow in his brothers’ footsteps, and he had no worries about whether or not the title would be his when he opened his envelope to find ten grade 9s and one grade 8. Sacha will be going on to study Maths, Economics, and Criminology at Reigate College.

Beyonce Kiroro and Alexander Whiter were also delighted when they received their GCSE results as they achieved results far exceeding their target grades. Beyonce secured grades on average three above her target, and Alexander two and half grades above his. These results will confirm their places at Coulsdon College and Reigate College respectively as they continue to T Level and A Level study.

Having double cause for celebration this year was Teddy Cook who was also celebrating his 16th birthday. Teddy secured the two grade 6s, four grade 5s, and two Grade 4s that he needed to gain his place at Riddlesdown Collegiate Sixth Form to study BTEC Sport.

Celebrating with the students on results day was Ms Green, Principal of Oasis Academy Coulsdon. She has worked with these students since they joined in Year 7 and was thrilled to be sharing in their joy on the day, Ms Green commented “I am beyond proud of this fantastic cohort, I could see great potential in them when they joined us five years ago, and they have gone from strength to strength. They have not only done themselves proud academically, but they also have a wonderful bond and are so supportive of each other. I can’t wait to see what amazing things they go on to do next”.
