MFL Trip to Madrid

MFL Trip to Madrid
Kelly Radford

Callie in Year 10 was one of the students who flew off to Madrid this spring to put their language skills to the test and soak up some culture in Spain’s Capital. Check out her report on the trip from earlier this year…

On the 8th of April, 38 students and four teachers met at the school and headed to Heathrow airport for a four-day trip to the city of Madrid. We landed at about midday and took a short coach journey to the hotel. The hotel was really cool, with a hearty breakfast included and many activities, such as karaoke, took place in the evenings.

During the day, we visited, art galleries, the Real Madrid Football Stadium, a bull ring, an amazing park, had some delicious churros and took part in a fun flamenco dance class (although our feet did hurt at this point).

My top three favourite things we did there were the churros, the Vincent van Gough experience, and shopping. On our second day, at around 8pm, we had finished all the activities we had planned so the teachers allowed us to go to the explore the high street and shops near the hotel. There were so many shops, and I had a lot of fun trying on outfits with my friends!

On our final full day, the teachers treated us to some amazing churros that came with a rich chocolate dipping sauce, they were very tasty, but I did feel a bit sick afterwards! Before we left on the final day, we visited a van Gough Museum and I was much more interested than I initially expected it to be. We were sat in a room with blank walls and then music started playing and images appeared all around us, telling us the sad story of Vincent’s life.

Overall, I really enjoyed the trip to Madrid and thought it was a wonderful, once in a lifetime opportunity.
