To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, our Student Council challenged our staff to the Watermelon Challenge! During lunch on Friday 8th March, we were all thoroughly entertained by five of our male teachers having watermelons strapped to their stomach’s and trying to carry out basic everyday tasks.
The idea behind the challenge is to replicate the difficulties faced by women during pregnancy when trying to carry out activities that we would normally not think anything of. Our team of volunteers all had to carry out tasks such as getting out of bed (off of a school gym mat!), tying their shoelaces, and picking something up off of the floor.
Watching our teachers trying to participate in these actives was certainly amusing for the audience, but was also very thought provoking. We would like to thank our Student Council for coming up with such a great idea, and also our team who got involved!
