On Thursday 22nd August, students at Oasis Academy Coulsdon were celebrating as they opened their GCSE results following the long wait from the end of the exam season. Although the wait for many may have been hard to endure, it was worth it for the outstanding results students at OAC achieved this year, seeing the Academy make a significant rise in student progress this year.

We were delighted to see 67% of students secure grades 4-9 in English and Maths, with 48% achieving 5-9 in the subjects. There was also an increase this year in students obtaining the top marks of a 7 or above, with 16% students receiving these grades.

Our top achieving students for this academic year were Jack Vines, Nicholas Deeks and Rhiannon Polczynski. Jack achieved 7 Grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and a grade 7, with Rhiannon achieved 6 grade 9s,and 4 grade 8s. Nicholas, on of the Head Prefects for the year group, also achieved an impressive 7 Grads 9s, 2 Grade 8s and 2 grade 7s and will now be studying Theatre with an English Literature A Level at the Brit School in order to pursue a future in acting. Nicolas said of his results, “I’m just so happy that all of the work that I’ve put in over the past five years, and longer, has paid off so well. It’s a really rewarding feeling.”

Also delighted with their results was Preet Thethi who secured six grade 9s, three grade 8s, and two grade 7s. Preet shared her delight by saying “Thank you to all my family, friends, and teachers for their support. I really didn’t expect this”. Preet is going on to Reigate College to study English Literature, Economics, and Media.

Also joining Preet at Reigate is Ruby Ward, who had double cause for celebration as she collected her results on her birthday. Ruby’s results have secured her place to study Media, Sociology, and Textiles.

Twins, Finn and Archie Goodman, were joyous in their results as they made outstanding progress during their time at the Academy from their KS2 results. Archie is heading to Reigate College to study Computer Science, Business, and Spanish, whilst Finn is set to begin Creative Media at Nescott.

Also celebrating outstanding progress during his secondary school journey was Steven Strong. Steven was delighted with his results which have ensured that he will be able to study Art and Design at East Surrey College allowing him to pursue his passion for art and a future career in game designing and animation.

Catrin Green, Principal, commented on the results of 2024 “I am so proud of our students, they have bene a very special year group since they joined us and I always thought we would see great things from them. The result they have achieved today are proof that they are all destined for great things and have very bright futures ahead of them”.
